Shameful Images!

Kotaku has a near-NSFW article on some of the images they collected, which feature some of the women in Soul Calibur IV in compromising positions that occur at points throughout the game.

The underwear images have been pretty standard fare among certain groups of Soul Calibur players since the days of Soul Calibur II (and possibly before that).

IGN - The Music of Soul Calibur IV

IGN has an interview with Junichi Nakatsuru, the audio director / lead composer of Soul Calibur IV.

I haven't heard a lot of good things about the soundtrack myself, which might make me a minority in saying that I actually enjoy the music for the game. Not as much as the fork-wielding lizardmen in one of the stages, though.

For fans of the previous games, Nakatsuru says to expect some recognizable music and reworked themes in addition to all the new content. "This time around we prepared tunes for each stage and situation rather than character. Still some pieces should be familiar, but others have drastically different ambience. I'm sure you'll enjoy the variety.

Yoshimitsu - 4A Part 2

It turns out that combo damage using the perfect JF version of the 4A series is only slightly higher than easier combos.

This combo is a good example (tested in practice mode with air control set to "back"):

3B -> 4A:A:A:A:A -> a:B+K -> 66B (77 dmg)
3B -> a:B+K -> 66B (72 dmg)

The reason behind the small difference in damage is not that the 4A series does a total of 5 damage, but that moves do less damage as a combo is longer. So, in this case, a:B+K, which normally does 30 damage, does far less damage in the first combo than the second combo.

Also, the previous post needs to be amended in that the perfect JF version of the 4A series will come out even if you are holding a direction on your joystick.

Round 2 of DLC

The second batch of DLC has become available at $3.00 or 200 Microsoft points.

There are five parts available that seem to be in a 'maid' theme.

Yes, this is also an unlock key, only you are paying twice as much as last time.

Below are a couple of images of what you would be getting, thanks to an anonymous individual.

Yoshimitsu - 4A

Yoshimitsu has eight 'just frame' (JF) moves - moves done with precise timing that give off a soft whirr and make your character flash white:
  • a:B+K
  • 2:a:B
  • 3B+K:B
  • SDGF (Super Dragonfly stance) K:K (two versions)
  • 2A+K_REF (Reflection stance) A+K_66A+K, A:A
  • 1A:A:A:A:A
  • 4A:A:A:A:A
  • FC 1K:K:K:K:K
Today's post will focus on 4A:A:A:A:A; it is a five-string move that hits high, and the second to the fifth hits must be executed with precise button timing. If executed successfully, the last hit will have guard crush properties. As is the case with the non-JF version, he will get dizzy and fall over on the fifth hit.

However, if there is no joystick input is registered for the fifth hit (you aren't holding the stick or the directional pad), he will regain his balance immediately after the fifth hit and strike a little pose, and will recover very quickly from the string. I will refer to this version as the perfect JF version.

The most interesting property of this JF move is when it is used in air combos. If the last hit manages to connect in an air combo, the opponent will be launched into the air very high, allowing for additional combo damage. This property is useless if the regular JF version is done, as he will get dizzy and fall over while the opponent plummets toward the ground.

Keep in mind that, with the quick recovery Yoshimitsu has with the perfect JF version, you can follow up with slower moves that typically do not connect with his other launchers such as 3B or 66B.

Version 1.02 Released (PS3)

It seems that now, you are penalized for disconnecting during an online match, and voice chat is enabled during Player Match battles.

Seeing as how Ivy's infinite has not been fixed, it appears that this update had the purpose of resolving some issues with online play on the PS3 version.

Two Ways to Earn Money

The Short Way:
(12500G per try, but you need to sit in front of the TV)
What you need - beat Tower of Lost Souls

1. Choose level 60, and pick Xianghua or Kilik
2. As soon as the round starts, back up to the edge of the ring and do a move that leaves you grounded (Xianghua's 1A+B(hold), Kilik's 1B+K(hold)).
3. Roll around as needed, making sure that Algol's line of vision is perpendicular to the edge of the ring
4. Wait for Algol to ring himself out

If you're lucky, you can make 12500G in one minute.

The Long Way:
(10000G per try, but you don't need to sit in front of the TV)
What you need - a controller with autofire functionality

1. Set X (PS3) or A (Xbox 360) as the horizontal slash button (A, by arcade notation)
2. Choose Siegfried in Arcade Mode
3. Leave A turned on

Siegfried will continue to do A slashes, which will eventually beat story mode for 10000G. The cursor will still at Arcade Mode when you beat it, and the default character is always Siegfried.

It takes 10 to 15 minutes to beat the game this way, which means you'll make anywhere from 40000G to 60000G every hour.

Yoshimitsu - Tekken Moves

It seems that the secret behind Yoshimitsu's Tekken moves (4A+K) lies in the time remaining in the round.

The following Tekken moves will come out depending on the units digit of the remaining time:

1:Taunt, slap (additional A for a second hit)
2:Drunken walk (auto evade)
3:Kazuya / Devil Jin's spinning unblockable | Jin's b+1+2 (auto GI)
4:Kunimitsu's unblockable
5:Fake somersault (second hit with 8A+K)
6:Shadow feet (Heihachi's running away move)
7:Super knuckle bomb (unblockable King / Armor King move)
8:Taunt | Paul's low launcher
9:Spin in place | Blazing kick (Lee's kick launcher)
0:Leg lariat (King's high kick)

This tactic could become quite useful, especially for some of the fast unblockable moves like Kunimitsu's unblockable (u+1+2, in Tekken notation).
